Recap - Grapevine basketball

Last year, Grapevine won a total of 8 games. It was a very disappointing season given the talent level on the team. Last night, Grapevine won their 16th game. Their overall record is 16 and 6. More importantly, their district record is 4 and 1. We are hoping to make the playoffs this year, but there is plenty of basketball to be played so we aren't getting ahead of ourselves. Jared is having a great season. Last night's game provides a good example. As the game was winding down, Jared took an elbow to the lip. While he was sitting out so the trainer could deal with the blood, the opposing team scored 7 unanswered points off a press. Jared re-entered the game in time to make two clutch, game tying free throws. The game then went into overtime. During the overtime, the opposing team continued the press, but Jared was back in the game. The coach had Jared help the guards bring the ball up the court. On multiple plays, the guards inbounded the ball to Jared, who in turn passed the ball to a streaking forward for a fast break. Grapevine scored 14 points in overtime, most of which were initiated by a pass from Jared. Jared scored 18 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, blocked 7 shots and dished out 4 assits. Last night's game was indicitive of how the season has gone. Jared is very active and get's a lot done when he is on the floor. We are looking forward to the rest of the season, though Kristin and I are pretty stressed out!
