Strawberry

I bet you all have been wondering what we've been up to, since I usually post all the time. Things have been a bit busy for us over the past few months, but we were able to get a trip in over the past weekend.

On Thursday evening we headed up to our picked out spot by Strawberry Res up Provo canyon, and of course it was already taken so we had to settle for a spot right off the road up a different canyon. Friday we drove around looking for a better spot, and they all were full. Our favorite band was playing at the Saltair that night and we just had to go. We headed back to town and got ready for our evening. We had such a great time! Then it was back up the mountain to home sweet trailer.

Saturday started out with a trip down to Heber, because I forgot Michael's shoes. (I'm kind of a space case when it comes to packing. Every time we leave the house Brendon says, "K what did you forget?" Its ok, its all a part of my charm.) After we got back, we had some yummy lunch, then set out for some fishing. Didn't really have any luck, but Michael sure had a good time playing in the sand. We tried to catch some Crawdads with a hot dog but we weren't in the right area.

After fishing we went back to camp then headed out on a ride to find a better spot. The spot we had was alright, but there was a cattle ranch about a half a mile up the road and all the cowboys were there loading up the cattle. Trucks were going up and down the main road all day. We were in luck and found one about 3 miles up the road from where we were. It was really pretty and totally secluded. The rest of our trip was spent relaxing and just enjoying some time away. We cooked our first dutch oven meal and it was delicious. (thanks mom, grandma, and tyff!)

It was a really good weekend and we got some awesome pictures. We only have one camping trip left for the year, then its indoors for us. Well, except Brendon, he will be out sledding.
This is one of my favorites!

Jeff's Brighton Trip

Here are some pictures of Brighton, England for your enjoyment. The next best thing to being there, right?
Here's the Brighton Pier. In case you hadn't noticed, that's a mini amusement park, complete with roller coasters, bumper cars and an arcade, among other things. The water is the English Channel.

No picture of an English street is complete without a double decker bus.

Fall Leaves

We traveled up the canyon today to see the fall leaves. They were at their very best.

Slo-Mo Lowe

Last night, I played basketball at the church. Age wise, I was the outlier. The rest of the players were in their 20's to mid 30's. My team kept winning, so I kept playing. Toward the end of the evening, I reeled off one of my classic post moves. Player one shouted, WOW, I would like to see that move in slow motion. Player two countered, "that move was in slow motion". I had to agree. Looking back, there were several of my post moves that qualified as slow motion highlights. Unfortunately, slow motion cameras were not necessary!!

Still on the topic of basketball, the high school coaches have challenged the players to shoot 20,000 shots before the season begins. Last weekend, Jared and I went to the Rec center and church several times and he was able to knock off 1,000 from the goal. After one of the sessions, I challenged Jared to a game of one on one. He declined. His reasoning, "Dad, you're falling apart. I don't want to hurt you." I do have several ailments, Plantar Fasciitis being the one that is most visible (slight limp on right foot). I assured him I was OK and I was perfectly capable of playing a quick game of one on one. I prevailed, we played. Jared was surprised at my glee after shooting each of my first three shots. No, they didn't go in. The reason for my excitement - Jared didn't block the shots. Jared won by the score of 5 to 2. I was just grateful I scored two baskets.

Final basketball paragraph. Jared is playing in a fall league. He had three games last Saturday. His team won two of three. Jared played well in all three games, but the final game was his best. He scored 21 points, blocked and altered many shots and frequently swept the boards. Jared is fun to watch.

Not much else to report other than I won a pair of Dallas Cowboy tickets. I asked for the Thanksgiving game, and it looks like I will get them. That should be fun. I'll take Jared with me.

This one makes me smile

Closeup of Eagle

Jared's Eagle Scout quilt

I finished Jared's Eagle Scout quilt. As you can see, it turned out pretty well.
I was bored today so I opened this cute picture of Tamsyn and Megyn and did a little retouch on it. Aren't they cute?

Is this a sign?

After finishing a casual dinner of pancakes, Megyn looked up to behold this: a face in the peanut butter. A happy face, no less. No one in the family claims to have made it. Consciously, at least. So now we're wondering, what does it all mean.

Christmas Plans

For those who read Elder Lowe's last E-mail, yes, we are planning on going on a family cruise without him. I know I encouraged everyone to save up for a cruise so we could all go together. The intent was to go late summer, but we had to deal with a number of logistical issues relating to Derek's mission call. We decided to go on a Caribbean cruise during Christmas break. We will drive to Galveston and leave from there. The cruise is 5 nights. We will spend one day at Progresso, Mexico and another day at Cozumel. The cruise departs Monday, December 21. We will spend all day Christmas on the cruise ship, heading back to Galveston. We plan on sending a letter to Santa informing him to skip our house this year. The cruise is our Christmas. If anyone wants to join us, please do!
