Spring Break

Most of spring break was spent being sick or cleaning up someone else's sickness but we did get to do a few fun things. Here we are at Duke Gardens on Easter Sunday. This is our yearly tradition. We go for a little walk among the blooming tulips between sessions of Conference.

The weekend before, Chris and I took a weekend trip to Charleston, SC. This is one of the houses we toured. There are many antebellum houses in this town. Some of them have been preserved or restored. This one was preserved so it looked just like it did back in the day. There were even some original carriages in the back.
We took a ferry out to Fort Sumpter. It was pretty wrecked up in the Civil War. It's hard to see but to the left of Chris's shoulder there is a mortar shell lodged into the wall. After all, this is where the Civil War started.
Is that a finger? Who taught this person how to take pictures?

We visited Boone Hall Plantation. This is the famous Live Oak Drive. If you have ever seen the movie "The Notebook", part of it was filmed on this plantation. In 1743 Mr. Boone planted 100 live oaks along this road leading up to his home. It is a beautiful site. The plantation still operates today.

I hope you all had a great spring break!
